Introduction: The Graduate School of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine take pride in their heritage as the oldest institution of medical education and research in Japan. The institution was founded in May 1858 (the 5th year of Ansei) as a smallpox vaccination clinic in Kanda Mitamagaike. We aim to enrich the environment that surrounds medical education and research. Incorporating Molecular Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biophysics, Structural Biology, Biomedical Engineering, and Information Science, we have revealed the mechanism of the human body, etiology of diseases and its physiopathology.
